WWU Geology Graduate Student Receives National Research Award

Nigel Davies was recently awarded a research award from the US Geological Survey that will help fund his MS thesis research on glacier and climate change in the Wind River Range, Wyoming.

Nigel received a research mapping grant from the USGS through the EDMAP program, part of the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program. The program is intended to help train the next generation of geologic mappers. The program is a cooperative venture between the Fedral Government, state geological surveys, and universities.  Proposals are competitive, and funding is typically restricted to only one project per state.  The grant will fund the majority of Nigel’s summer field research program, including intensive mapping and lake sediment coring and analysis in the range.
