[Geolalumni] FW: Field Assistants needed

Hello again everyone.

I am making one more plea for assistance with an upcoming period of fieldwork I will be undertaking for my master's thesis. For those of you who do not know me, I am a second year grad student working with Liz Schermer and Colin Amos on a project in the eastern Cascades trying to identify new active faults on the east side. We will be digging two trenches across a scarp that I have identified in lidar imagery in hopes of recognizing and characterizing an active fault. This will involve likely 2-3 days of hard, manual labor digging each trench with shovels and picks and then getting into the trenches to examine the stratigraphy and look for offset layers that could indicate recent fault activity.

As you might imagine, digging these trenches will require more than my own strength. Thus, I am putting out a call to everyone requesting your help in the digging process. I will be heading out to the field site just north of Cashmere, WA September 11th and staying until the job is done (likely right until classes start). I certainly don't expect anyone to stay the entire time (although you are welcome to) but ANY amount of time would be much appreciated. I am unable to pay a stipend but I will be happy to cover transportation costs, food and of course frosty beverages.

If you are available, please contact me ASAP via email or phone (978-857-0728) so we can make a plan. If you respond via email, please include your phone number so we can get in contact more easily.

Thanks in advance!

Ben
