The Washington State Department of Natural Resources is now recruiting for a State Lands Geologist position located in Sedro-Woolley, WA. The position will be filled either at the Natural Resource Scientist 3 level with a fully qualified licensed engineering geologist or at the Natural Resource Scientist 2 level in-training to become a NRS3 upon meeting all requirements including licensure.

The position provides consulting services to foresters, engineers, and managers responsible for executing the Department's timber sales program statewide. Primary responsibilities include conducting landslide risk analyses of proposed timber harvesting and road construction plans, communicating scientific information both verbally and in writing, and assessing the suitability of rock resources for use in various engineering applications. Work time is split between field investigations, office research, and communicating results of analyses.
