Subject: Hiring for a new geologic mapper

Friends and Colleagues,

We are hiring a new mapper to join the geologic mapping group. This position is half funded with the annual STATEMAP grant through the USGS and their funding levels have doubled in the past two years. This leads us to be able to once again support three mapping teams. Although we have confidence that the increased funding will continue for many years to come, we are hiring this as a project-level position at the moment.

The first project for this position will be mapping in the southeastern Puget Lowland. The following year, assuming a consistent level of funding, will likely be in the eastern Puget Lowland in the foothills of the Cascade Range.
