Hello GeoPeople,
I hope the start of June is treating you all well. I am writing to let you know about a great opportunity for a two-year position with the WA-DNR, for someone with at least a BS/BA in Geophysics or Geology, and some subsequent experience in using geophysical (seismic is best) methods. The DNR has been working for the past few years on some very nice, and beneficial projects to use active source (sledge hammer) seismic methods to analyze surface waves, and to then use those data to determine the S-wave velocity in the subsurface- that is then used to determine the IBC seismic site class for K-12 schools throughout the state. We have been including this method in the Applied Geophysics course for the past two years, but anyone with at least some understanding seismic refraction work should consider this opportunity.
So, please read the attached, and the forwarded message, and reach out to Travis West at the DNR if you have particular questions.
Bernie
