Greetings WWU Geology Alumni and friends,
I am writing on a rainy Thursday from campus to thank all of you for your collective time, effort, moral, and fiscal support for our department over the years. We have worked to maintain, and hopefully improve, our courses, degree programs, and wealth of experiences that together make up our Geology Department, which is all built upon the foundation of our past faculty, staff, students, and other friends of the department. Today is the WWU foundation's annual Give Day, and for long-time followers it might seem a bit early- which it is- Give Day has moved to April, rather than in May has it had been in the past.
Here is the web link to our 2024 Give Day page: WWU Give Day 2024 | Geology<https://wwugiveday.wwu.edu/giving-day/76338/department/76369>
Your gift to any of the funds supporting the Geology Department is greatly appreciated. These gifts enable students to continue their academic studies through support of the scholarships you may donate to, they enable our undergraduate and graduate students to travel to regional, national, and international research conferences, they help support costs of research projects and field work, or allow for added analytical work and other costs of high-quality student research. Your gifts also support student activities and faculty/student/alumni events in the local community, or at conferences such as the annual GSA or AGU meetings. This year we're also establishing a field camp scholarship fund, to target gifts to provide support for these important, but expensive, components of our degree programs.
On behalf of our department's faculty, staff, and students, I thank you once more for all of your support!
Best regards
Bernie Housen
