STUDENTS AND ALUMNI!!! Here's a rare opportunity for geophysics positions with the USGS in Colorado. There are several positions, many of which require no more than a BS degree (although there are benefits to having more education if you've got it). Direct link to the job description and info here: https://www.usajobs.gov/job/825365500

Positions like these do not come up very often, so if you're at all interested in working in geophysics, check them out and do not delay! Note that the due date is January 16.

Subject: [jobs-earthscope] USGS Operational Geophysicist positions - 1/16/25 closing date

The USGS Geology, Geophysics, and Geochemistry Science Center (GGGSC)<https://www.usgs.gov/centers/gggsc> in Denver, Colorado, is looking to hire multiple geophysicists to join a vibrant team working on a range of resource (minerals, groundwater), hazards (volcanic, seismic, space weather) and framework geologic studies. Our broad-based team of research and operational staff includes expertise in electromagnetic, potential-field, remote sensing, electrical, and seismic geophysics. GGGSC is a leader in the field of airborne geophysics and is heavily involved in the decade-long Earth Mapping Resources Initiative: https://www.usgs.gov/earth-mapping-resources-initiative-earth-mri

We seek to hire several term positions with duties involving a mix of field data acquisition, data processing, technical writing, and preparing data for public releases. The work also involves considerable interfacing with staff geologists, geochemists, and economic geologists. Term positions, with possible extensions up to 10 years, are available at the GS-7 and GS-9 grade levels<https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/salaries-wages/salary-tables/24Tables/html/DEN.aspx> depending upon education, skills and qualifications. The announcement is open now through 1/16/25 on USAJobs and can be found at: https://www.usajobs.gov/job/825365500.

A separate announcement for a GS-13 level permanent supervisory geophysicist can be found at https://www.usajobs.gov/job/825377700 and is open until 1/10/25.

Any questions about these positions can be sent to Paul Bedrosian at pbedrosian at usgs.gov or Dana Peterson at dpeterson at usgs.gov.
