[Geolalumni] Invited Speaker Seminar: Dr. Huw Mithan, 5/21, ES 100

Hi everyone,
Please join us for the Invited Speaker Seminar on Tuesday, May 21, at 4pm with Dr. Huw Mithan (University of Washington)! Topic: "Cryosphere Geomorphology"
The seminar will be in ES 100 at 4pm, followed by a cheese and crackers reception from 5-6pm in the ES Atrium (first floor of the ES Building).
About Huw: I explore the impact of accelerating permafrost thawing on geomorphological processes in Arctic landscapes. My focus is to uncover the subsurface mechanisms that drive landslide processes on Arctic hillslopes and how this influences their spatial extent and temporal evolution. By integrating field measurements, geotechnical modelling, interferometric synthetic aperture radar techniques, and digital terrain model analysis from sites in Alaska and on Svalbard, I aim to enhance our understand of the topographical controls and ground-ice conditions that shape landslide processes in frozen terrains.
