?All,
The YouTube video is an excellent production of George's excellent talk-- high definition video and audio, including his PPT graphics. I'll definitely use it in the future. Thanks George!

Bernie,
Let's hope the rats are hungry and wanting inside where it is warm, and not that they are fleeing a sinking ship. Bellingham coal miners told of rats that lived even in the deepest levels of the mine. They never harmed the rats, considering them as friends because their presence was evidence that the mine air was free of toxic gasses. Maybe the ES building rats are friends, too? What is their message?
And if you want to know more about Whatcom County coal mines, my recent hour-long presentation to the local Historical Society was recorded by media folks from Channel 10, the Bellingham public access TV channel. It's being broadcast every now and then. The program was also released as a YouTube video. Here's the link:

Best wishes,
George

Hi geofolk,
Welcome back from the holiday. This is a reminder to keep your spaces, and the collective spaces of the department, clean and free of food and drink. This is important for a number of reasons- such as
Rats!
We've had a rat sighting on the ground floor of ES- so far in and near the loading dock area (ES 064). The proper authorities have been notified, but it is important to do our part to make sure creatures such as this are not attracted by tasty morsels left in your office, labs, classrooms, etc...
