Hello,
You are receiving this email as your department's sustainable transportation contact. Please share the following information with those in your department as you see fit.
The Draft Bellingham Bicycle Master Plan is now posted for public review on the city's website at cob.org/bike<http://www.cob.org/bike> . All employees and students (especially those that ride bikes) are encouraged to participate in the master plan in a variety of ways; read the master plan, attend the open house (during which time a presentation and opportunity for comments will take place), or provide comments prior to the closing of the public comment period on March 21st. The open house will take place Thursday, February 20 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Whatcom Middle School auditorium.
A number of employees and students on campus could benefit from the opportunity to participate in the Bicycle Master Plan. In 2013, 490 Western employees logged non-drive alone trips with Whatcom Smart Trips, of which 14,341 miles were by bike. Also, according to our most recent data, gathered in 2012, during a two week period, 7.9%-9.3% of employees commuted to work by bike at least once. Additionally, 504 bikes were parked on campus on September 26th, with the return of students (the highest number of bikes recorded at campus bike racks so far this academic year).
A press release has been provided with further information, posted at this link: http://www.piersystem.com/go/doc/1264/2092662/
