Can you please share the following information with CSE faculty and students, please note the deadlines carefully:
PAUL WOODRING ARTS AND SCIENCES AWARD
For students within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences
or College of Science and Engineering
In 1996 the Paul Woodring Arts and Sciences Scholarship was established for students of exceptional talent enrolled in what was then the College of Arts and Sciences (now the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Science and Engineering). The scholarship is awarded "without regard to race, sex or religion, but to those students who, in the judgment of faculty members who know them, seem most likely to make substantial contributions to mankind as a result of their liberal education."
Only students who have been nominated by a department within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences or College of Science and Engineering are eligible to apply for the Paul Woodring Arts and Sciences scholarship award.
Department Nomination of Student:
1. CHSS and CSE departments forward the scholarship announcement to their faculty asking for nominations.
2. Department selects ONE student to nominate for the scholarship.
3. Department notifies the CHSS Dean's office of their nomination.
4. Department notifies the selected student that they have been nominated and sends the student a link to the Paul Woodring Arts and Sciences Scholarship Application form.
Qualifications:
* Student must have been nominated by a department within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences or College of Science and Engineering
* Student must be enrolled at Western Washington University full time (at least 12 credits per quarter)
* Student must have at least three quarters of coursework remaining before anticipated graduation, as of the beginning of fall quarter in the year of award
* A completed application form must be submitted for a nomination to be considered.
Application Process:
A student who has been nominated for the Paul Woodring Arts and Sciences Award completes the application form, which includes the following: application, unofficial copies of transcripts, a list of significant activities and employment information and an essay. The student submits the application to the Chair of the nominating department by Monday, April 20th, unless otherwise directed by the department.
Department forwards its selected student's application along with a department recommendation letter to the CHSS Dean's Office (chss.scholarship at wwu.edu<mailto:chss.scholarship at wwu.edu>) by Monday, April 27th, applications will be reviewed and recipients will be awarded by Monday, May 11th.
