Hi everyone,

I know this isn't geology related, but I think this may interest many members of our department. As some of you may have heard, there are plans to open up DNR land to various recreational user groups over the next few years as a part of the Baker to Bellingham project. Nothing is set in stone yet, but the idea is to take land that has been only used for timber sales in the past, and let the community user groups develop trail systems of their own with the guidance of DNR. This includes motorized (ATV, Motocross, 4-wheeling) and non-motorized (mountain bike, hiking, equestrian) trial systems.

Sounds pretty awesome right? More trails and accessibility is huge for the growth of these activities in Whatcom County that will happen in the future. I wanted to send out this email, because DNR is now in the stage of the project where they tally people's interest for expanding trails for each user group, and will then allocate the land accordingly to interest and land suitability. So if you want a certain type of trail, EMAIL THEM! It only take a few moments so say what you want and will pay out in the long run.
