Hi All-
Hope you had a rejuvenating Winter Break! If your first full two weeks of the quarter have been as busy as I have been, I feel for you :)! Please read all the way through.
If you plan on graduating Winter Quarter the deadline has passed and you better come in to see me ASAP your hard deadline is February 10th. If you plan on graduating Spring Qtr you have missed the deadline and will have to pay the late fee. If you plan on graduating Summer Qtr the deadline without a late fee is March 10, 2017. Please come in and pick up a Senior Evaluation Form in the office.

An important item: When responding or conferring with faculty or staff you will need to use your OFFICAL WWU E-MAIL. I will be changing all listserve or excel lists that I have to your OFFICIAL WWU e-mail. Please see Policy if you have any questions http://www.wwu.edu/policies/docs/7000-9000%20Enrollment%20&%20Student%20Services/POL-U7100.02%20Using%20Email%20Accounts%20for%20Official%20Correspondence%20with%20Students.pdf . Your other accounts will be deleted from any lists that I have as it is against policy that we have been using your personal e-mails for correspondence. If your e-mail is forwarded to another personal account it is at your own personal risk as stated in the policy above. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Several To-Do Reminder items:
1. Please complete your safety training. It is required for all Faculty, Staff & Students. You should have received an invite on Canvas.
2. Please REMEMBER to LOCK ALL doors even if you don't think you are the last one out of the room. The Computer Lab 230 has been left open many times during the day and evening - too many times and we are only two weeks in to this quarter...not okay. Please lock and close the door so that you can continue using these spaces after-hours.
3. KITCHEN ISSUES: Specifically all the utensils that have gone MISSING!!! Please return! We started out the year with 10 spoons, 10 forks and I am now down to 1 and 1...not cool! If you use items from the Kitchen please return or if you have extra at home and feel like you want to restock the kitchen please bring in replacement items...I don't think it is fair that Chris and I have been the ones to replace the missing items on a yearly basis. I am still missing a bowl that disappeared last qtr.
4. Please keep the Bressler room tidy if you use that room for studying - push in chairs, clean off whiteboard, wipe down table if you had a meal in there or if you have a lot of granite eraser leavings :) left on the table. Faculty and staff use this room for meetings and we would like it kept tidy.
5. If you need a microscope key you should get that done ASAP, by end of the day next Tuesday!
6. If you plan on field camp Spring or Summer please make sure that you don't miss any of the pre-meetings and if you can't be there let the faculty member in charge know.
Need $$$, need an internship? You all should check out the scholarships (https://cse.wwu.edu/geology/undergraduate-scholarships) available. There are many deadlines that are coming up SOON. Don't pass up a good opportunity to reduce your debt or your parent's debt. Mt. Baker Rock and Gem Club - $1500 deadline is due February 17th application attached.
Also please check out the GSA, On To the Future Program...applications for next year's GSA OTF will be out March 17th...GSA 2017 is in Seattle, October 22-25.
I think that is about it and I hope that you all have a fun and successful quarter! If you actually read through this entire e-mail and you are the first to e-mail me back with the hidden geology related word, within the e-mail, I will buy you a grande size drink of your choice. Those of you who have won in the past are not qualified...sorry :). Odds in winning are 220 to 1, better than the lottery...ha, ha. Have a great weekend!
Cheers,
Theresa Tripp
