[Geoldept] Badness in ES

To add to what Bernie said, all of us are on the front lines of defense of our space. That means, if you are the last to leave the computer room – lock it up! If you are in after-hours working in a lab space, when you are done – make sure the door is closed and locked! I was in last Saturday and the geomorph room was open. This morning I have closed the computer lab twice – when the lights are off and nobody is in there.

Please be vigilant in making sure our spaces are secure. We want you all to be able to access Geology spaces after hours and on the weekends, and to ensure that privilege continues, please do your part to help ensure our spaces are secure.

Thanks,
Ben

Hello geostudents and other geopeople,

I am writing to share some concerning behavior that, if we do not figure out what is going on, may result in the administration placing access restrictions on our building. Anyway, needless to say that responsible and sensible behavior is expected from all of us, and if you see such shenanigans in action, please tell the shananigators to knock it off. Any info you may have that can help resolve this situation is also appreciated.

Thanks

Bernie

Thanks for the reminder to ensure the doors to our offices are locked.

This photo disturbs me. Such disrespect for university property. I am seeing it happen more and more on campus when I am sometimes here in the evening, or when I arrive in the early morning in various rooms on campus. It might be time to consider locking the doors to the classrooms in the evenings. The students are ruining this wonderful privilege that they have. It’s really too bad.

Can the university send out a ‘warning’ to the students that if this continues that all classrooms will be locked at the end of the school day and only special permission will allow them into a room for study sessions?

Hello,

Please be aware of some incidents that have occurred over the last few weeks where general-use classrooms within ES have been turned upside down. These events are usually invisible to all but the custodial staff, who work hard to make things right long before the day starts for most of us. It is near impossible to track the source of the disruption or to prevent this from occurring when buildings are left open late into the evenings.

I suppose we should be thankful that general use classrooms do not contain a lot of items to disrupt but that is certainly not the case with the rest of the ES building. Please ensure that doors within your departments are locked.

Let me know if you have any suggestions (or leads).

Regards,
