Here is a great opportunity to learn about volcano monitoring or about geothermal exploration.  And, it's in Tenerife!  It's a bit spendy, but there are scholarships available.  The courses are offered March 19-22, which is finals week of winter quarter.

Dear Dr. Stelling

GeoTenerife is proud to announce two new courses: Volcano Monitoring and Geothermal Exploration in conjunction with the Canary Island Volcanology Institute and the University of La Laguna on 21-29 March 2018. The aim of both courses is to teach students practical skills that are fully transferable to the workplace.

There will be 50 hours of teaching (classroom, lab and field) per course, from an international panel with practical experience in the field from Iceland, Japan, UK, Italy and Spain. Two ECTS credits will be awarded at the end of the course. 

The volcano monitoring course will include seismology, geodesy, geochemistry, thermal imagery and infrasound. 

The surface geothermal exploration course will introduce students to a range of geophysical and geochemical techniques.

The cost of each course is €650 to include all teaching, field trips, eight nights' half board accommodation, coffee breaks, liability insurance and ABTA cover. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
