Hello Colin,

I'm reaching out to you because I'm organizing an event called Earth Night next week at the Alternative Library, and I would love to involve the WWU Geology Department in it!

Earth Night is a showcase of art and music inspired by biology and nature, held from 8 PM until midnight on April 25 at the Alternative Library, on 519 E. Maple St.

The complete lineup can be found in the Facebook event:
https://www.facebook.com/events/646501572447864/<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fevents%2F646501572447864%2F&data=02%7C01%7Cblizzak%40wwu.edu%7Cc17b01df27e94cef175d08d6c451cef3%7Cdc46140ce26f43efb0ae00f257f478ff%7C0%7C0%7C636912252970277772&sdata=5NYFewgjCCOGBY%2Bhoh7x4Iug1whJcufzTQqtOcjf9dA%3D&reserved=0>

I was wondering if you, or any other alumni/students of Western's Geology Department, have any specimens of rocks/minerals or fossils which you would be interested in showing off to the public at Earth Night. If so, please let me know! I think that having some examples of the abiotic components of Earth, that make life possible, would be a great addition to the night and perhaps a good opportunity for the geology department to do some outreach with the broader public.

Please let me know if you, or the Geology department as a whole, would like to be a part of this event celebrating the intersection of art and science!

Thanks,
Sam Bottman
