Dear Colleagues,

The American Geosciences Institute has two scholarship programs for the 2021-2022 academic year. Please pass along the information to interested and eligible students.

Harriet Evelyn Wallace Scholarship

There are two awards available with this scholarship program for 2021-2022. The scholarship is available for female students pursuing a master's or doctoral degree at an accredited institution of higher education in a recognized geoscience program. Each scholarship award is $5,000.

One master's candidate and one doctoral candidate will be selected for the 2021-2022 scholarship cycle. Applicants may either be entering graduate school or already enrolled in a graduate program in the geosciences. We strongly encourage incoming master's students to apply. Successful applicants will be thesis-based, full-time students and must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The application deadline for the 2021-2022 academic year is February 7th, 2021.

Scholarship for Advancing Diversity in the Geoscience Profession

This scholarship is a $5,000 award to support geoscience graduate studies by a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who self-identifies as a member of an underrepresented minority (Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color) and will be entering a graduate geoscience program for the first time. To be eligible, a student must have completed, or be within two semesters of completing, a bachelor's degree at a recognized geoscience program and not actively enrolled in a graduate program.

The application deadline is February 21, 2021. The scholarship winner will be notified in April 2021.
