Geology majors: If you want to take a field-based field camp this summer, here is a notice for a very good one. I will be compiling a list of other WWU-accepted field camps and will share it with you soon, after more field camps have decided whether they will be online or in the field.

Dear all,

The University of Arizona, Department of Geosciences summer geologic field school (5 weeks, 6 credits) is presently accepting applications from students outside of UofA. The course begins in Arizona, but quickly moves to western Wyoming and then veers west across the Basin and Range to the Sierra Nevada. The course conducts a traverse across an entire Cordilleran orogenic system and integrates individual exercises into a trans-orogenic cross-section. In order to cover this amount of ground, the field school involves camping (all in beautiful settings), as opposed to being based out of a field station, but meals are prepared by a camp cook. The school is physically and mentally demanding and geared toward students with a taste for adventure and a love of wilderness activities. The course is ideally suited for training undergraduate students with interests in pursuing field-based geology and tectonics research in graduate school. If you know of students potentially interested in this opportunity, please refer them to the website: https://www.geo.arizona.edu/geos-414-summer-field-school<https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.geo.arizona.edu%2Fgeos-414-summer-field-school&data=04%7C01%7Cschermer%40WWU.EDU%7Caa9500dfed9142d159fe08d8c2cefa4a%7Cdc46140ce26f43efb0ae00f257f478ff%7C0%7C0%7C637473541545692256%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=MwbgXEj5m6ZByXypc75xe2BukTFrmmPVM5fk%2FijtR3c%3D&reserved=0>.
