Great opportunity for a NOAA (Federal) internship - seafloor mapping using cutting edge sonar systems for navigation and Geological applications.
I know Thomas well - get in touch with Thomas directly, or me if we can help answer questions.

We are excited to announce that the application for the 2022 Explorer-in-Training Program is now open! Applications are currently being accepted for opportunities between March to September of 2022 and are due February 5 (2-4 week expedition-based opportunities) or February 15 (10-week internship program).
This year, the Explorer-in-Training Program<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Foceanexplorer.noaa.gov%2Fokeanos%2Ftraining.html&data=04%7C01%7Crolande2%40wwu.edu%7C9083ed3876ac4976cb2b08d9d44c0dee%7Cdc46140ce26f43efb0ae00f257f478ff%7C0%7C0%7C637774245389110019%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000&sdata=AvFc3clRZWaf%2B%2FonrFnZjhS3%2FBHufGtw1ML3Zz9iJa8%3D&reserved=0> will feature two paid internship options and themes: (a) 2 to 4-week expedition-based opportunities (Hydrography & Seafloor Mapping) and (b) 10-week summertime opportunities (Exploration Education, Media, & Science Communication). The 10-week internships give students an experiential opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge through long-term projects supported by NOAA Ocean Exploration mentors. The expedition-based internships provide support for specific NOAA Ocean Exploration expeditions, giving students the chance to contribute to mission efforts while gaining tangible skills that benefit their future pursuits. Applicants may apply for both internship options via a single application form. Please see below for eligibility requirements and application instructions:
