[Geoldept] Scholar's Week posters - geology student posters up in ES218, and recap of other presentations

Hi everyone,

If people didn't get to see geology student posters at Scholar’s Week, you have one more chance! We have 5 posters total: 3 from undergraduate students and 2 from graduate students. We will have them all hung in ES218 by end of day Thursday (3 of them are already there).

Please come by and take a look at what they have accomplished!

The posters are as follows:

  *   Alivia Eng et al. - Mastcam spectral diversity of rocks through Curiosity’s exploration of Glen Torrid
  *   Acacia Arielle-Evans et. al: Mapping Mastcam multispectral rock and soil classes in Gale Crater
  *   Sabrina Curtis et al. : Spectral variability in naturally weathered rock surfaces and implications for Mars
  *   Sean Halstead, Emma Calvert, and James Peale (to be posted in 218 Thursday): The Crystalline Past: Using mineral chemistry to understand magmatism in central Oregon
  *   Holly Valgardson: Indicators for the magmatic architecture beneath Koma Kulshan (Mt. Baker) by using crystals in lava flows

And congratulations to the graduate students that gave 3 minute thesis presentations (Brendan Garvey, Sloane Kennedy, Mahina Robbins, Emily Smoot, and Jenna Chaffeur. Geology was the biggest representative at those presentations!

And last but not least, congratulations to Kristina Walowski, Amanda Florea, Shae Fairchild, Stone Machel, and Claire Rowan-Arnett for their fabulous 15-minute faculty-student collaboration presentation.
