We seek to hire a new junior laboratory technician to join our growing team at the Community Cosmogenic Facility (CCF). The CCF is a National Science Foundation funded clean-room chemical laboratory housed at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont. We host visiting students, faculty members, and professional researchers from around the world to prepare samples for cosmogenic nuclide analysis and to learn laboratory methods. Our overarching mission is to increase access to cosmogenic nuclide techniques by creating a welcoming, collaborative, and education-centered facility focused on serving visitors.

The new laboratory technician will work primarily in the Mineral Separation Laboratory including performing methods, tracking workflow, assisting visitors, and performing mineral separations for collaborators who are unable to visit in-person. The technician will also contribute to other operations of the CCF by performing chemical methods in clean laboratory, serving as an ambassador for visitors by hosting networking events, assisting with instrumentation, and assisting with database implementation and maintenance.

Candidates should have a BA/BS degree in geoscience or chemistry or related field and experience in hands-on laboratory work including chemical methods. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to work independently and be comfortable working with hazardous materials.

The job is posted here: https://www.uvmjobs.com/postings/69154. We plan on closing the position in early to mid January and hiring soon after. The CCF website provides information about what we do (www.uvm.edu/cosmolab<http://www.uvm.edu/cosmolab>) and the projects we support (https://www.uvm.edu/cosmolab/vispics.html).
