Dear Colleagues,
Please pass along this message to any current final year undergraduates or M.Sc. students who may be interested in the following graduate school opportunity at the University of Florida.
I am seeking a Ph.D. and/or a M.Sc. graduate student to work on an NSF-funded project in the metamorphic core of the Brooks Range in northern Alaska. The project addresses formation and exhumation of high-P rocks, collisional orogenic processes, and the tectonic evolution of the Arctic region. The fieldwork is of course, remote and fairly strenuous so students need to be fit and capable of dealing with unpleasant conditions at times. The fieldwork will be complemented by analytical lab work, which will include U/Pb geochronology, Lu/Hf garnet dating, metamorphic P-T analysis, and 40Ar/39Ar dating.
Please have any interested students email me directly at jvogl at ufl.edu<mailto:jvogl at ufl.edu>. I would be happy to answer any questions and discuss additional details. The application deadline is January 15th.
Many thanks,
Jim Vogl
