Hi all,
Just got this email request to remind students about the Mount Baker Gem Show and associated scholarship. I know that Hye In has sent out information as well, and there's info on the department website. Check it out!
aloha,
Jackie

You don't often get email from todd.folsom at gmail.com. Learn why this is important<https://aka.ms/LearnAboutSenderIdentification>
Hi Dr. Caplan-Auerbach;
I recently found the book, "Super Volcanoes", at our local library so I checked it out. I was quite interested to read the section about your research on undersea volcanoes. Are there any publicly available videos of such volcanoes?
I am a retired freshwater ecologist and also a geology hobbyist. I got involved with the Mount Baker Rock and Gem Club after relocating to Bellingham. Several years ago I worked with your department's chairperson to streamline and modernize the application process for the club's scholarship. Last December I sent the attached poster and other info to Ms. Park so she could publicize the scholarship to the third-year students, as she has in the past.
Since the application deadline of February 15 is approaching, perhaps you would help publicize the scholarship as well? Students can use the link to our club on your department's Undergraduate Scholarships page or get it from the poster.
Thanks for your attention to this. I enjoy seeing students get some monetary help for their education. I've also attached a flyer about our annual gem and mineral show held in March to encourage all geologists to visit. Proceeds from the show are the major source of income that funds the scholarships.
