Hi everyone,
Welcome back to winter quarter! I hope you all had a wonderful winter break!
Please read through the important department policies below - these policies allow us to retain the privilege of using the rooms and Geology break room/kitchen.
ROOMS
*Please read the attached document about important Computer Lab (ES 230) information.
-The Geology Computer Lab, ES 230, should be locked at all times if there is no one in the room; if you are the last person to leave, please remember to lock the door behind you even during business hours.
-No food or beverages allowed in the computer lab
-After business hours, lock all doors (especially 2nd floor classrooms and labs).
-Accessing rooms after-hours: Your instructor will provide the Geology keybox code if any after-hours access to labs or rooms is needed for your course.
KITCHEN (ES 246)
-Please return and wash any utensils and dishes taken from the Geology breakroom.
-If you are using the kitchen, please help us keep the space tidy by cleaning up after yourself!
-The fridge is cleaned out every Monday; please label and date your food or take your food with you if you don't want it to be thrown away.
DATES AND DEADLINES
-Have you met with your faculty advisor? All undergraduate students are encouraged to meet with their faculty advisor every quarter to make sure they're on track to graduate, and for BS Geology majors, to make sure they're on track for field camp.
-For undergraduate students planning to graduate in Summer 2023 (majors and minors), the priority deadline to apply to graduate is March 10. Please email me to get your Geology Degree Evaluation before then. Graduation application deadlines are posted on the Registrar's Office website.<https://registrar.wwu.edu/degree-information/degree-application>
Geology Winter Quarter Office Hours
-The Geology Department Office is located in ES 240. The office will be open on the following days/times this quarter: Mondays/Wednesdays: 8-5pm, Tuesdays: 8-12, 1-5, Thursdays: 8-12, 2-5 and Fridays: 9-11, 2-5.
-Certain processes, such as degree evaluations, will continue to be done remotely. (Overall, email, phone, MS Teams and Zoom continue to be the best options for questions that take longer to discuss.)
Let me know if you have any questions and have a great week!
Thank you,
Hye In
