I'm re-sending info about the URISE geophysics summer (paid!) internships because the application deadline has been extended until Feb. 10. Go for it, students-it's an amazing program!

We could really use your help in finding talented undergraduate students for the 2023 EarthScope REU Internship Program (URISE)! Please assist by spreading the word within your departments and undergraduate courses. The application deadline has been pushed back to Friday, February 10th, so students still have plenty of time to get their applications submitted.

If you would like to host a URISE intern this summer, we’re also accepting mentor applications, which are due Feb 15th. We’ve got lots of helpful information on our website for prospective mentors, and you’re also welcome to reach out with questions anytime.

Applications are currently being accepted for the recently re-named Undergraduate Research Internships in Seismology (URISE) - Summer 2023! URISE takes the place of the long-running IRIS REU Internship Program.

Student applications are now due (Friday, February 10th)! Please support this program by announcing it to your students and/or applying to become a mentor!

URISE interns spend 8 to 10 weeks applying their math, physics, and geoscience knowledge to explore Earth processes and its interior. Research projects may involve the deployment of seismic instruments in the field (within the US or internationally), and/or analyses of seismic data in a lab setting with the ultimate goal of producing results to be presented at a national scientific meeting. Interns receive a weekly stipend, support for travel and housing, and full funding to attend the Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union. See intern projects from 2022 to gain a sense of the possibilities. https://www.iris.edu/hq/internship/news/2022_iris_interns_at_the_fall_agu_meeting<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.iris.edu%2Fhq%2Finternship%2Fnews%2F2022_iris_interns_at_the_fall_agu_meeting&data=05%7C01%7Ccaplanj%40wwu.edu%7C32ac46bf29e947bbfd8308db03dbf4e8%7Cdc46140ce26f43efb0ae00f257f478ff%7C0%7C0%7C638108015501839348%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C7000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=xR5pG7Idnd2MjINob6TS9a3PchUXcXMIRwoUxqHDQNc%3D&reserved=0>

We are excited to receive applications from students representing the full spectrum of society, as well as students with lived experiences such as students with disabilities, veterans, and non-traditional students!
