Hi all,

Type of service required: "This work is with the U.S. Geological Survey Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center in Santa Cruz, CA though work will be conducted in the Puget Sound region of Washington State...The work will involve beach and nearshore mapping, sampling, and conducting field experiments to gain an improved understanding of physical processes that affect shoreline and habitat change and to test numerical models. The contractor will be expected to perform or assist with field investigations, including any of the following: planning, preparing instruments, collecting data in the form of mapping elevations, substrates and water levels, sampling sediments, and deploying various remote sensing instrumentation. Student will also help maintain instruments, handle, and archive data, conduct initial quality assurance procedures, and prepare data for publication."

Required expertise/skills: "Completion of one or more years of academic course work toward an M.S. or M.A. within the earth sciences or engineering disciplines. Applicants must also be U.S. citizens." Also: "Student must be enrolled at least part-time in college or have graduated within the last 12 months."
