Subject: STATEMAP Vacancies (GIS/GeMS and Entry-level Geologist) at the Florida Geological Survey

You don't often get email from rick.green at dep.state.fl.us. Learn why this is important<https://aka.ms/LearnAboutSenderIdentification>

Greetings all,

I will have more details at the DMT next week, but we currently are looking for GIS help with GeMS (hourly work at a salary of $18-20/hour depending on experience. Unfortunately, this position does not offer benefits). We also have an entry-level geologist vacancy at the FGS for a Career-service FTE (Full-time Employee with retirement and benefits) geologist position who will be working exclusively on STATEMAP projects directly under me. The job will pay $43k annually (I know, Florida is behind in salaries, but not much I can do about that!).

The candidate for the Geologist job must have a B.S. in geology and be able to travel to south Florida for a week at the time (about once every six week on average). GIS skills, mapping experience, and experience in describing coastal plain sediments are a plus.

Here is a link to the job opening: https://jobs.myflorida.com/Environmental%20Protection/job/TALLAHASSEE-ENVIRONMENTAL-SPECIALIST-III-37020894-FL-32399/1028818800/

I will be setting up interviews for qualified candidates the first and second week of June, and anticipate a decision being made before the end of June. The candidate must be able to start by 6/25 in order to take advantage of a potential 5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) that our Legislature just passed. NOTE: our Governor has the ability to line-item veto budget items, but we anticipate that he will not veto this due to his supporting it last month, but there are no guarantees until he signs the budget (we will know by the time the job starts).

If you have any interest or know of someone who might fit our needs, please do not hesitate to contact me!

Rick
