Hi Geo students!

I'm currently looking for two undergrads who plan on starting their final year next Fall and would be interested in doing research and/or in developing a Senior Thesis<https://geology.wwu.edu/geologyundergraduateresearch>.

Depending on the research topic, projects will take 2-3 quarters (or even 4!) and will allow you to get experience using the scientific instruments in the Paleomagnetism Lab<https://geology.wwu.edu/pacific-northwest-paleomag-lab-instruments>, and fieldwork experience in some cases (varied locations depending on topic: WA, north OR, Vancouver Island BC).

The research topics you could develop are varied due to the multiple applications of paleomagnetism and magnetic fabrics. Currently, we are working on projects related to tectonics/structural geology, magmatic intrusions, volcanology, environmental sciences, stratigraphy and paleontology. Because of this variability, having taken any of the magnetism-related classes of our programs would be good, but really not essential

If you are interested in getting research experience and want to know more about these opportunities, don't hesitate in reaching me out!

Cristina
