Dear students,

Please consider registering for GEOL 425: Advanced metamorphic geology in Winter 2024. In this course we'll use the mineralogy, textures, and mineral chemistry of metamorphic rocks to quantify material and heat transfer through the crust in different tectonic settings, examine models for the evolution of subduction zones and mountain belts, and learn about the metamorphic and tectonic history of the Northwest Cascades. The course includes hands on exercises with hand sample and thin section work, numerical models of metamorphic processes, and analytical work on the scanning electron (SEM) and Raman microscopes.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
