CSE Senators play a key role in shaping the College of Science and Engineering (CSE). This office provides an opportunity to engage with University and College Governance and ensure that the CSE student voice is heard.

We hope you all are having a wonderful Fall Quarter. We are currently seeking applicants to fill the newly vacant College of Science and Engineering seat in the Student Senate. The Student Senate represents students by college and focuses on student issues relating to academics or at the college-level.



Position Details:

Workload: 7-10 hours per week

Term of Office: Fall to Spring Quarter

Pay: $19.20 per hour



Key Responsibilities of a Student Senator:

Serving on Committees: As a CSE Student Senator you will likely sit on the CSE Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, CSE Policy, Planning, and Budget Council and other college and university committees as appropriate.

Attending Senate Meetings: Every other week the Student Senate meets to discuss a variety of student issues. The Student Senate is empowered to oversee the ASWWU in coordination with the ASWWU Executive Board. The Student Senate also regularly releases statements and resolutions to take a stance on issues important to students.

Empowering Students: As a Student Senator you'll often act as a Peer Advisor, guiding students to resources and helping them understand where change happens.

Connecting with Administration: In this position you will connect with Administrators in the College of Science and Engineering and Faculty in leadership positions, like department chairs.

Advocating for Key Student Issues: Student Senators are paid advocates, and you can use a variety of strategies to bring student voice to the forefront of decision-makers.

Creating Community: The Student Senate is the easiest way for students to get involved in University Governance. In this position it's important to stay connected to your constituency, CSE Students.
