See forwarded email about 2025 Geoscientists in Forests internships (especially the one on the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Pinedale, WY). Note that applications are cut off after 75 people nationwide.

The B-T will be continuing rock glacier inventory begun this past summer. We also have ongoing cave and glacier monitoring work.

Subject: C&K 2025 Summer Opportunities - Geoscientists in Forests Program

Hello Cave and Karst Folks,

The USDA Forest Service in partnership with Conservation Legacy and the Geological Society of America are now accepting applications for the 2025 Geoscientists in Forests<https://stewardslegacy.org/geoscientists-in-forests> summer program. We will accept applications until January 31, 2025, or until we receive 75 applications. The Geoscientists in Forests (GSF) —a new program— specializes in internships that address geoscience-related needs and management priorities. The program is designed for individuals aged 18-30 and veterans up to age 35. The projects will involve predominantly field-oriented research, inventory and monitoring, and geoscience interpretation for agency staff and the public.

The primary purposes of the Geoscientists in Forests Program are to:

  *   Provide on-the-ground geoscience training and experience for the next generation of Forest Service geoscience stewards;

  *   Promote an immersive, paid developmental experience for emerging geoscience professionals through Forest Service mentorship;

  * Address critical geoscience needs on National Forest System lands; and

  * Promote career exploration and professional development for recent graduates and underrepresented populations.

Here are some cave and karst opportunities to share within your network:

  *   Karst and Cryosphere Inventory Assistant - Bridger-Teton National Forest<https://secure8.entertimeonline.com/ta/conservationlegacy.careers?ShowJob=654882372> <https://secure8.entertimeonline.com/ta/conservationlegacy.careers?ShowJob=654882372>

  * Karst and Bedrock Conservation Plan Assistant - Hiawatha National Forest<https://secure8.entertimeonline.com/ta/conservationlegacy.careers?ShowJob=654882374>

  *   Cave Interpretive Assistant - Tongass National Forest<https://stewardslegacy.org/geoscientists-in-forests> <https://stewardslegacy.org/geoscientists-in-forests>

  * Watershed and Geology Program Assistant - George Washington & Jefferson National Forests<https://secure8.entertimeonline.com/ta/conservationlegacy.careers?ShowJob=654882368>

Please share broadly.

Feel free to email me or Geoff Elliot gelliot at conservationlegacy.org<mailto:gelliot at conservationlegacy.org>, if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Lima
