[Geoldept] URGE meeting review & task vote

Hi All –

Thanks to those who were able to join a very productive URGE meeting last Friday! As part of our meeting, we discussed and held a vote of the following tasks to identify 1-3 main tasks we’d like to focus on as a community this year. These include:

Task 1: Host a GLT for departmental scholarship applications
Task 2: Book Club
Task 3: WWU URGE Website - continued building & adding Geo-Heroes info!
Task 4: Access to Geoscience and Field Camp resources (cost barriers)
Task 5: Organize an outreach event
Task 6: Engage with Native American Student Union / Tribal Liaison / Community Engagement Fellowship
Task 7: Peer-Mentoring (related to or not related to outreach events)
Task 8: Field Safety and Rights Document
Task 9: 101/211/213 Curriculum Activity related to promoting and documenting diversity

If you are interested in participating in any of the above initiatives, but you were not able to attend the meeting, you are welcome to vote via email please. To do so, please send me an email directly (walowski at wwu.edu<mailto:walowski at wwu.edu>) with a vote that includes your top two tasks.
