Hi Ben,
Do I need to do this safety course too? I am old and tired and have a very short attention span, especially when I have been drinking.
Very Safe Thor

Hello Geologists,
You should all be enrolled in the “2024-2025 Annual Geology Safety Information Course” on Canvas. If not, contact either me or Hye In immediately and we’ll enroll you.
This is a mandatory course that all faculty, staff, students, volunteers, and research associates must complete. The course consists of short PowerPoint presentation with valuable safety information followed by a quiz that requires a 100% passing grade. For students, I’ll be asking faculty to ensure you have completed this course prior to participating on field trips, or before using departmental lab facilities, so please do not delay and complete this course as soon as possible.
In addition, I’d like to draw your attention to two important university policies. First, all of WWU is a smoke and vape free campus. Please respect the people around you and adhere to this policy<https://ehs.wwu.edu/smoke-free-campus>. If needed, there are many cessation programs<https://doh.wa.gov/you-and-your-family/commercial-tobacco/how-quit> and resources available. Second, many of you ride bikes as a primary method of transportation. Please review the attached campus bike map and familiarize yourself were dismount zones are located and when they are in effect. Please note, there are speed limits when near pedestrians on the shared bike and pedestrian paths.
Thank you for your participation. We are all responsible for a safe working environment and your participation in this annual safety training helps to achieve that goal.
Thanks,
Ben Paulson | he/him/his
