You are Invited to a Staff-Focused Information Gathering Session for the Development of Proposed University Gender Neutral Facilities Guidelines

Tomorrow: Wednesday February 24th from 12:10PM to 1:00PM in Viking Union 464

As a part of the University's commitment to creating and maintaining welcoming and inclusive learning and working environments for people of all gender identities on our campus, the University has established an ad hoc committee to draft proposed guidelines for the development of gender neutral facilities (restrooms and locker rooms) at WWU.

As part of this process we are gathering information from staff about their concerns, questions and experiences that will contribute to the formation of these guidelines. Separate information gathering sessions are being held for students and faculty, to ensure feedback from multiple constituencies on campus.

For example:

  * What has been your experience when using restrooms and locker rooms at WWU? What comments do you have regarding the accessibility and safety of these facilities?
  * What are your hopes for the use of facilities at WWU in the future?
  * Why is the issue of gender-neutral restrooms and locker rooms important for creating and maintaining welcoming and inclusive learning and working environments at WWU?
  * What is important to you in the creation of gender neutral facilities on our campus?
  * What if any concerns do you have about the creation of gender neutral restrooms and locker rooms on campus?
An information gathering session for staff will be held on Wednesday February 24th from 12:10PM-1:00PM in Viking Union 464. Staff who need to leave the session early to return to work are welcomed to do so. Additionally, staff may provide input anonymously online here: https://wwu.az1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_6KAcNfSEn41FhWd

We appreciate your time and feedback!

On behalf of the Ad Hoc Committee,

Karl Heinz, Program Coordinator, University Residences and Classified Staff Representative to the Committee

Simone Staley, Resident Director, University Residences and Professional Staff Representative to the Committee
