Dear all,

I am currently looking to recruit a qualified graduate student at the PhD level to work on a 3-year funded project focused around an upcoming 31-day seagoing expedition to dredge seamounts and ridges within and near Hess Rise and the Mid-Pacific Mountains. The research involves mapping long-lived hotspot tracks and improving Pacific absolute plate motion models during the Cretaceous Normal Superchron (122-83 Ma). A MSc degree focused on the broad areas of 40Ar/39Ar geochronology, basaltic volcanism, plate kinematics and/or marine geology are preferred.
