The USGS National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colorado is hiring a geophysicist to join our 24/7/365 earthquake monitoring mission on our Swing Shift.

Duties:

  *   Working on a team of 24/7 on-duty seismologists to quickly compute and distribute hypocenters, magnitudes, and other parameters for significant earthquakes throughout the world.
  *   Processing seismic data from around the world to produce the USGS global earthquake bulletin.
  *   Answering questions from the public and media following significant earthquakes.
  *   Documenting information about earthquake damage and other societal effects from recent earthquakes.
  *   This position involves shift work outside standard business hours. Initial post will be swing shift, 3:00 pm to midnight Tuesday to Saturday.
