Howdy GeoStudents,
I hope Winter quarter is treating you all well? As the crocus and other flowers are blooming, it is time to turn our thoughts to Spring Quarter- especially because Phase I of Spring Quarter registration has begun. Here are a couple of important changes you all should be aware of:
First- we finally have identified, hired, and scheduled a person (Jessica Shaw) to teach an additional section of Geol 318 for spring quarter. The new course is in the system, and ready for you to register for.
Second- we are implementing some restrictions to our upper-division courses in order to better plan our program enrollment and student capacity. For Spring Quarter, we have added major restrictions to many of our 400-level courses. These restrictions will mainly impact Phase I (pre-major) students, and students in the BA degree- so please check, review, and if need be ask questions about your current major status prior to your registration time.
Finally- we have also set up our Summer Session slate of courses- we are offering a number of courses in our major, so please have a look at the Summer 2016 schedule, and revise your plans accordingly. While it is not possible for some students to take a full load of summer quarter courses, many of these offerings (as well as those in Physics, Math, and Chem) can give you an excellent opportunity to make more progress toward your degree.
Thanks
Bernie
